The best summer detox drinks

Everyone knows that a good body is also made in the kitchen rather than purely in the gym and on the weights. Without a good diet and great nutrition the effort you make in the weights room can all be undone when you fill your face with rubbish and bad foods during your training.

So what extra steps can you take to be sure that your training can be maximised with a bit of clever nutritional support?

Many people think that just drinking plenty of water can be the one good thing to do continue to be doing whilst training to maximise results. But why stop there? Why not make the fluids you’re taking in each day the best possible kind and add some super detoxing variety to them.

Here we look at the best detox style drinks you can possibly produce for little money and how they can help in your quest for fitness and a healthier you all around.

Detox water

This simple drink rids your body of toxins and helps to break down fat too. Simply add a slice of lemon, lime, cucumber and grapefruit to a half gallon of spring water along with some mint leaves to taste. Allow to sit in the fridge for a couple of hours before serving and drink ½ gallon per day for great results.

Apple and cinnamon

You’ll need a gallon sized pitcher for this drink which helps to detox the body and boost your metabolism meaning you’ll be burning more calories drinking it. Simply fill the pitcher with spring water and a thinly sliced apple and a cinnamon stick. Fill half the pitcher with ice before covering with water and leaving in the fridge for an hour before serving. Add additional apples or cinnamon for taste.

Fat burner

This drink really helps to drop a few extra pounds as well as cleanse your body of toxins. Start with 350ml of water and a blender. Add to that two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and sweetener to taste. Blend it all together for a brief burst and just add some sliced apples pieces.

Lemon and ginger

Ginger being a natural pain reliever can only be a good thing for your system to have but adding it to water can really increase its detox properties. Start with 350ml of water and add the juice of half a lemon and grate a ½ inch knob of butter into the glass. This drink can help relieve any pain you may be in during the day and the lemon adds to the cleansing values of this drink. It’s also a great early morning drink to start the day with.

So there you have a few sure fire detox drinks to begin training with and incorporating into your everyday routine of staying hydrated and healthy. You can always mix up the flavours and add other valuable fruits and vegetables like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and cucumber in order to vary the taste and increase the detox and nutritional benefits. So why not get creative and create your own healthy detox drink for your own routine and share the recipe with your workout buddies.
